Akeem + Alexie || Engagement Session

I’m so excited to feature Alexie + Akeem on my blog today! I loved this shoot for a number of reasons: I got to shoot in a new location that is really beautiful and fun, I was able to capture brand new smiles from their seriously adorable baby girl, and these two trusted me every step of the way with posing and capturing their love so it was just such a fun and easy shoot! I loved getting to know them, and their story is really sweet…so I got permission to share it here. Enjoy!

“We met at a parade when Akeem was visiting New Orleans for a job interview. He played college football with my twin sister’s boyfriend. I was pretty smitten, but didn’t really want to admit it.

We didn’t speak again until we ended up working in the same coffee shop a few months later when he’d moved down for the job. He charmed his way into a ride to Old Navy to buy some work clothes and then to Walmart for groceries. Hashtag glamorous first date, right?

The true first “date” was the following Friday night: daiquiris on the bayou. I was smitten and couldn’t not admit it anymore (though I tried to keep it from him at least).

A year later, we bought a house together. That November, Akeem took me skydiving. He arranged for our families to meet us on the ground and asked me to marry him. Almost a year later, we’ve welcomed a tiny baby girl into the mix!

I don’t think I do our story justice in writing this. We’ve known our love was special from the very beginning. Though we’re still learning to love well, we choose each other every day and we’re excited to do that forever.”
