Samantha + Chase || Pass Christian Outdoor Wedding

I drove up to Samantha and Chase’s wedding with so so many butterflies in my stomach. It’s been TWO months since I’ve shot a wedding. I was on a run on Saturday afternoon when I got a call from Chase and Sam’s sweet friend, Erin, who told me that she and her husband wanted to hire me to shoot a small wedding as a surprise for their friends. Crazy enough, I had been hired to shoot Sam and Chase’s wedding originally about 5 months ago, before the world came to a halt. Once the shelter in place came about, Chase’s wedding planner reached out and asked if we could transfer their contract and deposit to a date in 2021, which I was happy to do. I knew that they were still going to get married, in front of only a few family and friends, and was so sad that I wasn’t going to be able to be there. So it was really the BEST surprise ever, not just for Chase and Sam, but also for me! Huge thanks to Erin and Richie who made this happen! My heart is still full from two days ago when I got to capture this beautiful event.

If I’m honest, I’ve felt really lost on quite a few occasions during this season. I know I’m not alone in that. I’ve spent the past 6 years being a full time wedding photographer…and only ever stopped shooting really to have babies. ha! But getting to shoot this reminded me that while on the surface so much appears to be so different, there’s so much that this pandemic can’t take from us. It can’t take away the marriage between two people who are head over heels in love. It can’t take away a bride walking towards her groom with so much joy and anticipation. It can’t take away joy in general. It can’t take away our faith. It can’t take away the truth that God is for us. It can’t take away us enjoying the incredibly beautiful spring we’ve been having. It can’t take away the itch that God gave me to capture joy and beauty. You get the picture…haha…but truly, it can’t take away the best parts of us and our lives. I’m so so thankful that I was able to be there for Sam and Chase and I’m so excited for the God led adventure they are starting together!
