Melanie + Zack || Covington, LA Wedding
It was a bright gem of a day at the Southern Hotel in Covington, LA. The mood in the bridal suite was happy and lighthearted as Melanie and her girls got ready while wearing plaid flannel pajamas. Melanie's delicately beautiful, full sleeved wedding gown hung like sparkling icicle in her suite. It was fun to watch her bridesmaids stare at the dress with their jaws dropped. It was perfect for her elegant Christmas wedding.
I love that Zack's last name is Rudolph and that Melanie wanted a Christmas themed wedding because Christmas just makes her happy. The whole day was just fun. I felt like I was spending time with friends and I loved all their beautiful, slightly whimsical, and sometimes quirky details. Hot cocoa with a small bottle of Bailey's attached was the guest favor. Their ceremony and reception was decked out with Christmas decor, but very simply and tastefully. Zack and Melanie got married under a big bunch of mistletoe, and the bridesmaids and bride walked out the tune of beautiful Christmas music. At their reception was a gorgeous Christmas tree, and a stuffed dog hung out next to the tree, to represent their dog who couldn't come that day. (They considered bringing him, but knew that as a duck hunting dog, the likelihood of him jumping into the fountain was pretty high.) Melanie told me that she hired me based on some photos of a bride and groom with twinkly Christmas lights. So we ran away from the reception for a few minutes and took some bride and groom portraits with Christmas lights. It made me so giddy.
One of the highlights of the reception was when the DJ (John Lejuene, Rockit Productions) played a Celine Dion song. If you know Melanie well, or even just look at her Facebook page for 10 minutes, you'll know she's a diehard Celine Dion fan. It was Melanie's moment, and she lip synced "It's All Coming Back to Me," with half of the wedding guests. Amazing.
This wedding was the perfect way for me to end 2016. It was my dream wedding, and these two were dreamy. Congrats you two!
